Blood Angel

It happened again, I knew it would.
The depression gives way to the darkness and dispair
Slowly it creeps over me like a shadow entering my soul
I can’t stop it…I have no control!
Deeper and stronger it grows inside me
Pulling me further into the abyss.
There is no escape (and do I really want to?)

It was a simple plan
Supposed to be fun and games
The aftermath was stunning and
The blade of my knife was gleaming.

He didn’t scream (I wouldn’t allow it)
Just one small whimper is all that came out of him.
Except for the blood…lots and lots of blood
Hot…Sticky oceans of warm red liquid.

I ease in my knife and it slides right into his chest
With a twist of the jagged blade I rip him apart
to hold the final thumps of his blood soaked beating
heart in my hand.
I smile as the blood drips from me.

I close my eyes and let the tender thoughts of
you creep slowly into my mind as a soft whisper.
Touching my soul.
Images of you fill my head.
Wonderful pictures I can play and rewind only
to play again over and over.
A tiny glimpse into our future,
Perhaps a memory of our past.
Love eternal, yet waiting to be discovered;
Uncovered.
Remembered from lives and loves ago,
Of times past
Our future is yet to be.

Your words are drifting out
Like waves upon an endless sea
And where your words are
Calling out,
There you will find me.
Floating through the air
Blowing in the wind
Gentle whispers, tender words

When things go wrong, as they sometimes do,
Nobody cares.
When times get tough,and you could use a little help,
Nobody is there.
When you need a friend to lean on, to talk for just a while,
Nobody listens.
When the world is closing in, and you see no end in sight,
Nobody helps you.
When the pain becomes, too much to bear,
Nobody will comfort you.
If saddness overwhelms you, and tears begin to flow,

When you close your eyes, in that final resting place,

I am NOBODY!

It’s there…I can feel it.
I can almost taste it.
It lurks just below the surface.
Waiting…always waiting…
Watching…always watching.
It travels with me on my journeys,
Looking for an opportunity to rise…
To come forth and take control…
To accomplish all that it knows I fear.

I control it…mostly, but there was a time.
It took over completely!
It did, what it knew I was afraid to do.
It ended it all, by watching, as I watched,
From the inside looking out.
And when it was finished, it smiled…
My smile. It’s eyes gleamed…my eyes…
Knowing it had set me free.

Then it quietly slipped back inside, releasing me.
A soft voice telling me what to do next…
To cover for us…that no one would know.
I listened and played my part…perfectly…neatly.
No one ever knew…no one ever will.
No one sees…they think it’s me.
There was the guilt…for a time.
But never was there remorse…no never.
I was glad…it was over…I was free.

Now, with understanding words of wisdom,
The guilt no longer holds me in its grip.
Retribution, Fairness, and Justice prevail.
My inner darkness is smiling at my words.
I know it will remain inside…calmed for now, but
It still wants to play…whenever the need arises.
I accept that…am greatful for it.  I trust it…it knows me.
It has become a part of me now…of who I am.
It’s just me…with a darker side…just me with
My Own Dark Passenger along for the ride.
